The Law and Ethics
of Analytic Psychotherapy
In November 2023, Rose City hosted an intimate and thought-provoking in-person event in Pasadena during which we delved into the fascinating realm of the Law & Ethics. Fulfilling all four hours of the Board of Psychology's Law and Ethics CPD requirement, we helped attendees arm themselves with knowledge of the laws and standards governing the ethical practice of providing therapy.
The course kicked off with Alan Karbelnig, PhD, ABPP presenting a detailed recounting of an anonymized ethical violation by a provider and how the situation was handled by both the provider and the Board of Psychology. Next, expert attorney Scott Harris walked the audience through the basics of ethical laws and guidelines while highlighting updates and changes to the regulations in recent years. Next, a Rose City clinician presented a case to a panel of licensed professionals featuring Enrico Gnaulati, PhD, Luis Nagy, PhD, Nina Savelle-Rocklin, PsyD, and Ryan G Witherspoon, PhD. This event was hosted at NOOR Pasadena and fulfilled four (4) Continuing Education credits for licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists (MFT), and licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) in the state of California.

A dedicated attorney focused on defending professionals and businesses against State governmental agencies. Mr. Harris is a former Deputy Attorney General with the CA Department of Justice, where he represented many of the licensing agencies of the CA Department of Consumer Affairs, and the People of the State of CA. Scott J. Harris served as the Liaison Deputy for the Licensing Section of the Office of the Attorney General to the California Board of Accountancy, and the Court Reporters Board of CA, and prosecuted hundreds of cases involving professional licensing discipline, license applications, petitions for reinstatement, administrative appeals, and appeals by Writ of Mandamus in the CA Superior Court.
